PET and rPET packaging are essential for modern era packaging. The material is lightweight, shatter-proof, and is also a cost-effective barrier protection. rPET directly aids a circular economy by diverting post-consumer waste from landfills and lowering carbon emissions by up to 50-70% compared to virgin plastic production. The material requires up to 50% less energy than creating a new virgin PET, which results in significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Collection and reprocessing of used bottles for manufacturing of rPET, manufacturers prefer to keep existing plastic in a closed loop, to reduce the burden on global landfills and oceans.
The whole procedure also aids in enhanced sustainability due to procedures such as the reuse of existing materials to lower the demand for petroleum extraction and virgin resin manufacturing. Both the material forms are also highly preferred by the packaging industry as they provide strong mechanical strength, flexibility, and excellent resistance to moisture, gas, and microorganisms.
The visitors at the Expo at Sidel’s stand will be able to discover the latest equipment, including EvoBlow Laser, Swing Evo, and Aseptic Predis X4. According to Sidel, the solutions are designed to reduce complexity along with other beneficial factors such as improving efficiency, sustainability, and flexibility, to meet the evolving regulatory and market requirements.
The company has also planned to present its packaging and palletizing solutions at the Expo. They consist of primary formats such as bottles, shaped containers, jars, tins, pots, cans, flexible packaging, and cartons. They will also display secondary packaging formats such as regular slotted cases, wrap-around, shelf-ready packaging, and films.
The company will also be providing live demonstrations to the visitors. It will allow visitors to experience RoboAccess Pal S, the company’s compact palletizing unit combining robotics and cobotics. It is primarily designed for food, home, and personal care markets. The unit is expected to deliver a speed of up to 12 cycles per minute, support case payloads of up to 25kg, and offer a return on investment typically within one or two years. Its footprint covers less than 12 m² for two stations, with a pallet height of up to 1,700 mm.
Also on display will be Sidel’s Evo-ON – a cloud suite designed to supervise and optimize production lines. According to the company, the system collects, aggregates, and analyzes the data around the clock to offer real-time and proactive alerts, notifications, customizable dashboards, and reports, with the help of raw equipment data to help manufacturers achieve peak line performance.
